26th January 2014, a day of honour for every Indian, a day which marks the birth of the Indian democracy, the 65th Republic Day, was celebrated with great fervour at Seth M R Jaipuria School. The proceeding began with the unfurling of the tricolour by the Principal, Mrs. Anju Wal, followed by the ceremonial march past of the four houses and a PT drill.
In her speech, the Principal exhorted the audience not just to celebrate the day but also to stop, introspect and take stock. She asked the students to note the difference between Independence Day and Republic Day, see this dynamic country churning and undergoing a transition for change is the anthem of the people of India. She quoted Pandit Nehru who said that” time is not measured by the passing of years but by what one does, what one feels, and what one achieves.”
Speeches in Hindi and English brought a sense of patriotism in the hearts and minds of all present, while the English and Hindi songs instilled in them a patriotic rhythm out of their slumbers and work for a better life. The program compered by Shambhavy Singh and Rakshit Raj Singh ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the Vice-Principal, Mrs. Probhati Biswas.
