A vocabulary workshop was conducted by a team of experts from LOGOPHILIA for students of classes 6 to 12 on 21st and 22nd April. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Dhruv Raj Sharma, a scholar of Psycholinguistics.
The workshop was extremely unique in the sense that it aimed at equipping the students with a vocabulary based on etymology where the students could understand a repertoire of words by knowing the Latin Greek and French prefixes and suffixes. The resource person also made use of power point presentations to enable students to get a better understanding of vocabulary words. He demonstrated that English is not a funny but a fun language once it is mastered by students. More than 250 students across the middle and senior school enthusiastically participated in the workshop.
A separate session for the teachers was also conducted by the team on 16th and 17th April and was attended by 23 teachers from different departments. This is perhaps the first time a workshop on vocabulary caught the attention of students and the overwhelming response from students proved the success of the event. This will soon be followed by a 10 day detailed workshop during the summer break.
