Seth M.R.Jaipuria, Gomti Nagar, celebrated the 68th Independence Day with gaiety and fervor , on 15th August 2014. The Indian tricolour was hoisted by Ms. Anju Wal, Principal Seth M R Jaipuria School and the Chief Guest on the occasion, Mr. Bharat Pun . Mr. Pun , a Senior Sports Teacher of the School , retired from his services on 15th August 2014.
The Chief Guest and the Principal conducted the Inspection of the parade. The programme included March Past and Drill by the students of the four Houses , followed by a short cultural programme. The Principal, Ms. Anju Wal addressed the august gathering and emphasized on the importance of Independence and paid tribute to the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives to give us a free nation.
The Investiture ceremony of the Junior school Students’ Council was also conducted. Jayash Khanna (IV C) and Flora (IV A) were appointed as Junior Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. The Council included 16 members from Junior School . Patriotic Songs were sung by the Middle School students. Inspiring and patriotic speeches were delivered by Aditi Singh in Hindi and by Dhruv in English.
Martial art, a tradition of combat practice for self defense, was performed by the students in front of the gathering. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal, Ms. Probhati Biswas followed by the much awaited final round of the Inter House Kite flying competition between Godavari and Krishna House which was finally won by Krishna House.
The Independence day celebration was followed by a Farewell party in honour of Mr. Bharat Pun.
