TechVista 2016

TechVista, an inter-school IT festival, was organised by Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Lucknow on 20th August. The school’s very first computer club Lazarus designed various activities for the events, which were limited not only to IT but also included Literary and Art related activities. TechVista saw participation of 19 reputed schools from across the city whose skills in 15 meticulously planned events were put to test. An online cryptic IT hunt conducted before the fest fuelled participants’ anticipation. The array of activities where competition was aggressive, to name a few are:

  1. Programming
  2. Debugging
  3. Web-designing
  4. Gaming
  5. Video Editing
  6. Quiz
  7. Virtual Treasure Hunt
  8. Surprise Software
  9. Crossword
  10. Virtual Cryptic IT Hunt

  1. Turncoat
  2. Half-a-minute

  1. Logo-making
  2. Phone cover designing
  3. Advertising

The Opening Ceremony began with the Lighting of the Lamp by the Principal and the dignitaries present, followed by a dance performance. This was followed by the Principal’s address who said that the winning or losing be judged by healthy competition among the participants.Kanishk Singh, President of Lazarus, spoke a few words and welcomed all teams to TechVista 2016. The festival,TechVista ’16 was declared open by the Principal.

The energy and excitement in the JIM Auditorium, venue for all stage events, was palpable. The very first event of the day was the Half-a-minute which had the audience cheering wildly for their team members. This was followed by the Turncoat wherein speakers had to both propose and oppose the motion that ‘the shift in audience to Western cinema from Indian cinema is hypocrisy’. Several interesting arguments were heard. Other events were being held simultaneously in the school’s computer labs.

The Quiz finals was enjoyed by the teams as well as the audience who were seen scratching their heads. 6 teams battled it out and the enthusiasm of the audience was apparent in the form of frequent applause. Crossword finals another engrossing event had people sweating it out on the stage, working out wordplays and puns. Perhaps the final event was the one which everyone had been waiting for since morning: the gaming finals. The crowd went berserk as the two shortlisted contestants tried to best each other in the game of FIFA.

Once everything had been said and done, and scores for all events had been tabulated by a talented team of judges, we began with the Prize Distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest for the evening was Mr. Gopesh Sharma and the Guest of Honour was retired Colonel VikramJaitley who addressed all the students. After the prizes for all events had been handed out by the honoured guests and the Principal, CMS Aliganjwas declared the overall winners, with La Martiniere Girls’ College and the home team being adjudged second and third respectively. In all, TechVista ’16 was a huge success and surely, a great learning experience for all participating!
