With the intent of bringing the real life, practical knowledge into classroom experiences, students of class 5 were taken for a visit to Grand Post Office, Lucknow. The children were led into a meaningful exploration into philatelic museum where nearly 300 frames consisting rare and valuable postage stamps from across the country are displayed. An array of more than 100 stamps has been displayed in a gallery which is dedicated to freedom movement and freedom fighters of Uttar Pradesh. Children’s favourite part of the visit was the stamp section where they were given information about the types of stamps. Some beautiful stamps based on Indian dance forms, historical monuments, literature and many more were shown to the children. The students were amused to know that they can have their own customised stamps registered at the post office. Each child kept noting the interesting facts and information in the notepads carried by them.
The children were curious to know from the postmaster, the journey of the letter from the letter box to the recipient. They were taken to the various stages of the letter in the post office.
The visit to the post office was certainly a great learning opportunity for the students as they learnt many things about the working of great institution like Post Office.
