Students of grade 4 of Seth M.R Jaipuria School had the opportunity to display their talents and discover a new side of them when they enthusiastically participated in an ‘English Declamation Competition’.
Declamation, originally defined as to cry out your emotions, has got its definition altered over the years. Declamation, derived from the Latin word ‘declaim’ means to speak in a rhetorical manner with a feel. This feel was to convey a social message with clarity, emotion and persuasiveness. This competition also served as a platform to promote an exchange of ideas and among the students.
Talented participants spellbound the audience with their extra ordinary oratory skills. The students of grades 4 opined on different topics which was judged and evaluated on well-defined criteria within a stipulated time limit.
The exuberant participants zealously put forward their views on topics like Love for School and why a person should possess various attributes. The meticulous views of the orators left everyone spell bound. They were very expressive, confident and had good intonation. The students’ perspectives regarding the topics were acknowledged and applauded by the judges and the audience. Such activities enhance students’ critical thinking and improve their communication skills thus making them multifaceted and versatile.
