The students of Seth M.R. Jaipuria Playgroup celebrated ‘Colour Day’ in school along with their mothers on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.
The teaching methodology in our Playgroup curriculum makes room for various celebrations and parent teacher collaboration programme and this particular event was the same.
Each section divided their students into different colours like green, yellow, blue and red, and the child and the mother were dressed in the same colour. The teachers arranged various activities for the day like a theatre session with a fun enactment of the Rainbow Fish story that the students have learned in class and this story is also an apt reference to depict a celebration of colours. This was followed by a craft activity where the students and mothers participated together and made colourful rainbow fishes.
The teachers orgainsed a games session where each team played the memory game. In this game, both the child and the mother were shown a tray full of different objects, only for a few seconds, and later were quizzed on how many objects they remembered. They also enjoyed playing the hands-eyes coordination game where the mother was required to catch a ball that the child tried to throw at her but without looking.
The celebration gave an opportunity to the mothers to get acquainted with the pattern of learning in the classrooms. It also helped them to connect with the teachers and vice-versa.
