Earth Day

Earth Day

The Earth Day is celebrated worldwide annually on 22nd April. It was established to increase awareness of the need to protect the Earth’s natural resources. A host of activities are carried out each year for the students in school for them to become conscious of Mother Earth and it’s needs.

In the playgroup, the students were shown a picture of the Earth to start with, and a discussion about it’s various constituents like animal and plant kingdom took place.

Some of the students were intrigued to know how massive our Mother Earth is. The teachers talked about the importance of saving our Earth through small acts like refraining from litter, planting more trees, keeping some water for the birds, reducing plastic use, switching off lights and fans, etc.

This was followed with a few class activities. The students did hand printing on a blue cut out of the Earth with green colour signifying trees and greenery. Some of the classes did finger painting with green sparkle on a small cut out of the Earth which was later made into a badge as take away activity.

The students thoroughly enjoyed and wished each other Happy Earth Day before leaving.
